Evaluate
by Margaret Young
Well, someone had to do it and I guess it turns out to be me. I’ve been reading the rants and despite the fact that there will be an election this month the pollies have been given a holiday!
For heaven’s sake! Make them aware — Let us wake them up! Yes us! How many of the voting public are aware that the majority of politicians are on the lowest level of Kohlberg’s theory of Moral Development. For that matter most of the voters are too!
Remember when we were kids – and we’d form friendship chains, arms linked asking: “Will you be my friend and help me fight Josie Tupper? – Or “I’ll give you half of my bake bean sandwich if you will give me half of your lard and vegemite!”
Well perhaps not many will know what a lard and vegemite sandwich is but believe me it was quite greasy – it just slipped down your throat!
The pollies though don’t have to eat lard and vegemite for the words to slip out – or the promises. They will say: “If you vote for me and my party, we will build great scholastic schools; first rate roads; healthy hospitals and make us the, in this instance, the best State in Australia”.
Australia doesn’t need best States! Australia needs politicians and people who believe in Australia –people who perform – people who participate! So people Stop swaying with the politicians – evaluate! Look at what has been done – can be done and – evaluate! Listen as to how it can be done and how we can make a Greater Nation!
Oh, yes, I started off with a comment on Kohlberg’s Level 1 of morality. – So what is it you ask?
“You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours?” Yes! That’s the one!
